Martin Luther's "Barber Questions."   Martin Luther suggested to his barber, that he read a short section of the Bible, maybe even just one verse, and then ask and answer these questions:

1. What is this saying in my own words?

2.  What should I thank God for?

3.  What sins do I need to confess?

4.  What should I ask God for?

Then close your study with a prayer based on the answers you gave to these questions.  It can be very helpful to start a notebook with your thoughts on your daily Bible Study.  "The palest ink is stronger than the strongest memory!"
