Meet our Pastor

Pastor Michael Spaude has been our pastor for 37 years having arrived in Antigo in June of 1982.  In May of that year he graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin.  He is also an alumni of Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, our Synod's worker training school(WELS).  As a pre-graduate he  studied extensively the Biblical languages of Greek and Hebrew, in addition to  the generally required  college courses.

In 1985 he married Rachel Luetke, an elementary school teacher.  She is also a graduate of Martin Luther College and has a degree in elementary education. Prior to her marriage, Rachel served for five years as a Lutheran elementary school teacher in Medford, Wisconsin.   Rachel is very active as a volunteer in the church, serving as one of the secretaries, a Sunday School assistant, an evangelist,  and musician.

The Lord blessed this  marriage with  five children: Katie, Laura, Paul, David, and Dan.  All the children grew up in Antigo and attended Antigo Public Schools.  Katie is married to Stephen Koelpin, a WELS Lutheran pastor serving churches in southern California.  Laura is married to Andrew Steubs, a WELS Lutheran pastor serving in Johnson City, Tennessee.  Paul recently graduated from the WELS Seminary in Mequon, WI and is currently an instructor for Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota(WELS).  He also is an assistant to the dean.     David  is enrolled in the WELS Seminary and is soon to finish his Senior year.  He will then await assignment to a full time ministry position in the WELS.   Dan graduated from  Antigo High School,  is now a senior at Martin Luther College and is currently aiming at becoming a WELS pastor someday.

In addition to the ministry, Pastor loves to spend time with his family and in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and skiing.  He also loves dogs, trout streams, taxidermy, sailboats,  backpacking, and the mountains of the American West,  He is also an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers.
